Revitalize Your Church’s Social Media

Brief

Most local church leaders have a basic familiarity with social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram and maintain accounts for their churches. However, many of these leaders do not know best practices to use social media efficiently and for maximum engagement with church members and the wider community.

Learning Solution

I developed a four-week hybrid online course to build learners’ skills in social media strategy, content planning and creation (including AI tools), analytics, and social media ethics. Learners engaged in weekly modules of reading, videos, and discussion boards, plus two weekly one-hour virtual sessions facilitated by myself or another subject matter expert.

Tools Used

  • Thinkific

  • Zoom

  • Canva

Results

  • 337 learners participated in the course over two sections.

  • A sample of learners’ church Facebook pages showed an average of 63% higher engagement one month after the course

  • 89% of learners would recommend the course to a colleague

  • Comparing pre-course to post-course surveys in which respondents rated themselves on a 1-5 scale, learners reported an average of:

    • 56% more confidence in measuring the effectiveness of social media posts

    • 46% more confidence in planning and scheduling social media posts

    • 45% more confidence in creating social media posts that inspire engagement
