Project Management for L&D Professionals

Brief

A project team within the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Association for Talent Development (ATD) has been developing elearning courses to help members build professional knowledge within ATD’s Talent Development Capability Model. I was asked to create a course on foundations of project management.

Learning Solution

I came to this course design soon after becoming familiar with project management from preparing for the APTD certification exam. I outlined a course introducing four main concepts: definitions of projects and project management, approaches to project management, the project life cycle, and skills for L&D project management. I then designed the course around the character of Amira, an instructional designer building her project management skills in hopes of moving up within her organization.
